As a reader ventures into the life and mind of Stephen Dedalus, the main character of James Joyce's classic A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, they are able to identify what Stephen's state of mind is by examining pieces of prayers that Joyce includes as parts of the manuscript. The presence of these prayers suggests that they hold some significance in Stephen's life. The simple prayers reflect the inner feelings of Stephen throughout his transition into manhood. The prayers that Joyce presents suggest idea or concepts that are valuable to Stephen throughout all ages of his life.

When Stephen is a schoolboy, Joyce includes juvenile, sincere prayers that mirror the manner in which a child might devotedly believe in the church, even without understanding the meaning of its religious policy. When Stephen leaves his boarding school to come home for the holidays, he is asked to say grace at the dinner table. Stephen stands up before everyone and recites "Bless us, O lord, and these Thy gifts which through Thy bounty we are about to receive through Christ Our Lord. Amen."

This prayer, although a simple one, expresses a lot about Stephen's nature. Mainly, it expresses his true innocence as a child. Stephen believes that God is the provider for everything and that He controls all. Stephen also holds an enormous amount of trust in God and the Roman Catholic religion.

At his young age, Stephen does not realize that he can control his destiny, that he is his own provider. Stephen is such a fanatic of his religion that he is completely oblivious to fact that some things the church does may be unjust. This notion in Stephen's mind is just one example of how childish he actually is. Joyce's use of the prayer, in this instance, allows the reader to infer about Stephen's childish demeanor. Do my essay on Prayer in Portrait of the Artist CHEAP !

Years later, as Stephen sits in the chapel listening to Father Arnall at a retreat, prayers appear inserted in the text once again. Stephen is now a young adult. As a young adult, Stephen takes his Catholic religion even more importantly. He looks at everything he does as being a sinful act, every experience, every idea, every notion. Stephen is especially ashamed of his liking of girls. He feels he is much too lustful over ladies and therefore, is a terrible person in eyes of his Lord.

The retreat that Stephen attends is an attempt at inner contemplation of the soul and its salvation. Father Arnall discusses issues such as judgment, death, heaven and hell. At one point in the sermon, Father Arnall states that a "believing Christian" should be able to honestly ask "O grave, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?" The sermon includes many questions such as these, which leads Stephen to question his honor and goodness. Stephen feels that every word of each insightful question is aimed towards him and his impurities. He feels the wrath of God was intended directly for him Stephen undergoes more than a mere vision or tour of hell the agonies he suffers during the sermon seem closer to the experience of hell itself.

Stephen's attitude after the sermon suggests that he was deeply affected and perhaps paralyzed by the words of Father Arnall. Stephen and his peers return to the chapel for another sermon later in the day. Together with Father Arnall, all the boys pray for God's forgiveness "O my God! I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest my sins above every other evil because they displease Thee, my God…" After the final sermon, Stephen's conscience seems extremely overclouded in doubt. Could it be the Stephen Dedalus had done those things? Had he really become such a terrible person? Would God send him away at the gates of heaven? Why did God just not strike him dead right then and there? At this moment, Stephen's doubt in the Roman Catholic religion (and himself) begins to intensify. Stephen finds it extremely difficult to attempt to make any sense of his world as he knows it.

The television shows Frasier and That 70's Show although aimed at adult audiences are completely different. Frasier is about a psychiatrist, Frasier Krane, who is rich and is in the upper class society. Frasier has everything a person could dream of having, except true love. Frasier has fallen for a lady named Claire, a psychiatrist who shares the same interests. Frasier decides to take Claire along with his family to the Bahamas, where he realizes that he can't quit thinking about her best friend, Larna. Frasier and Larna had dated but they then decided that it would not work out, so they decided to be strictly friends.

While waiting at the airport for his luggage, Frasier is approached by a man who asks if he should return to his wife or not. Frasier advises him that he should. Frasier than rushes home and breaks the relationship off with Claire. Larna then calls Frasier and invites him to her son's graduation party. Frasier thinks that the party is the perfect opportunity to tell Larna how he feels.

At the graduation party Frasier is waiting on the perfect time to tell Larna his feelings, when suddenly the man from the airport walks in and Larna's son addresses him as his father. When Larna realizes that her ex-husband is at the party she becomes furious. Frasier then talks to her and tells her that she should give her ex-husband another chance.

After a talk with his father, Frasier then realizes that he was just afraid of a commitment with Claire. Frasier then calls Claire and tells her that he is sorry and explains that he was confused and scared. Claire then forgives Frasier and they decide that they will take a vacation by themselves. On their vacation Frasier tells Claire that he is falling in love with her and Claire then tells him that she thinks that they will never work out. When Frasier meets a woman that he feels he can settle down with the relationship fails.

Although the situation is different Frasier and Eric Foreman, a character from That 70's Show, have a lot in common. For instance they both are very stubborn at times and they are both too smart for their own good. They both have families and friends who love them very much. Neither Eric nor Frasier can keep their girlfriends happy.

Eric Foreman is a teenager who although a nerdy guy has a girlfriend, Donna, whom his friends think is very attractive. Eric and Donna are in love and Eric decides to ask Donna to marry him. When Eric proposes Donna says yes, but she refuses to wear the ring he has given her. Eric becomes upset and tells Donna that if she doesn't want to wear the ring then they are not going to be together anymore. Donna then gives Eric his ring back and runs home.

At school a lot of the other girls feel sorry for Eric and even offer to take him out to dinner. Donna then gets angry and begins to date their friend Kelso's brother. Eric then becomes very upset and realizes that he wants Donna back. Eric is scared to tell Donna though because he thinks that she doesn't love him anymore. Eric then begins dating other people and Donna begins getting jealous because she still loves Eric but fears that he doesn't love her anymore.

Since Donna and Eric are neighbors and they share the same friends they begin talking again. Though they both are dating other people they still are in love. At a school dance Donna decides that she is going to ask Eric to dance. While dancing Donna runs off because she wanted to kiss Eric. That night Donna went to Eric's house and asked for her ring back. Donna and Eric are a couple again.

Frasier and Eric are both smart males who always want to have things their way. Though the two have a huge age gap, with Eric being a teenager and Frasier a midst his mid-life crisis, the two fail to realize that when they are having a problem they do have friends and family that care. That is one of the morals that each episode of these shows tries to teach. Though Frasier and That 70's Show are both targeted for adult viewers they attract different people. For instance, a teenager is more likely to watch That 70's Show than Frasier and a grandmother is more likely to watch Frasier than That 70's Show.

Deer herds in alabama

If you order your cheap essays from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on deer herds in alabama. What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. I have chosen to write about the increase in Alabamas white-tailed deer herd and the problems that relate to this explosion. Most people are unaware of the dangers caused by this. Unless you have been or know someone who has been involved in a accident involving a deer, the news of expanding whitetail numbers would seem a good thing. In 16 deer numbers were dangerously low due primarly to hunting, agriculturial methods, and loss of habitat. Since then the states population has risen to 1.8 million deer making it the second largest in the nation, with Texas leading. Public awareness, hunting regulations, management programs, and state parks have help guide the states deer herd back from the brink. This explosion has created a number of problems for the state. Law enforcement officials recorded 14,0 collisions involving vehicles and animals, with about 5% involving deer. These accidents produced 1,48 injuries and 14 deaths, amounting to 6 million dollars in claims to insurance problems.

This is not just a rural problem anymore. Now suburbs are experiencing problems with deer destroying costly landscaping problems, and generally over-running the the suburbs looking for food. With so many concentrated deer there is a possibility of a severe famine further pushing deer into urban areas. Deer carry ticks, which carry lyme disease, so more deer in suburban areas also could mean more exposure to the disease.

I chose this article because this problem will most likely be addressed by Alabamas department of wildlife & fisheries. One day I hope to be employed by this department so I may very well have a hand in how this predictament is handled. Untill now the legislature and hunters have been slow to address the problem. Up until a few years ago the shooting of does was illegal even though studies showed it was a viable way of addressing population problems. At the moment officials have their hands tied. One choice would be to employ the help of hunters to slow the growth in state parks where circumstances are much worse. However attempts at this have been hindered by ant-hunting groups. The department has made improvement by educating hunters and landowners about proper deer management. Hunter bag-limits have been dramatically increased. For example in some areas of the state a hunter can legally take as many as 4 deer during a 108 day season. But officials say even liberal limits would only maintain present numbers, not decrease them. Trapping and birth control has been suggested but both are very expensive and birth control results would be sporadic at best.

I think that despite this is a problem that needs to be taken seriously by all. Why is it that people only become concerned when its them or a loved one involved in a wreck. Some problems in society are more complicated than this one I know. But thats even more reason to place importance on this. The legislature needs to cooperate with wildlife officials and come up with a plan. With more public support and effort, this is a problem that can be solved. I hope it is done before too many more lives are wrecked.

No one person can have the same views, ideas, and knowledge as other individuals. In the war story, Across Five Aprils, by Irene Hunt, there are different characters in the story that have different viewpoints of how the war has been going on. People's view in this story is that many believed that the war would be quick with little bloodshed, but they soon find out that they are not absolutely right. People also see the worst in other people. They want to think of people as the opposite of what they really are. Different people have different viewpoints in the war also. Much of the human nature is revealed in the different ways people view the world, each other, and themselves as well as how easily their minds are changed.

One view of human nature is how a persons idea is altered from experiences. For example, the North thought that the war was going to be short, but they soon found out that the war would turn into a long lasting bloodshed war. I dont know if anybody ever wins a war, Jeth. p. 101. In this book, Jethro has different thoughts of the war. In the beginning of the war Jethro thinks of something, but then in the end, he becomes more mature of the major effects of a war. It was just one awful roar at the battle, with the cannons shooting and the screams. p. 15. Being in wars can change the people and the troops fighting in the war. "The union troops were finally turned into a confused, bewildered, scurrying for safety; no more talk about ending the whole affair." p. 1. Once people fought in the war, they discover that it was not like they thought.

People also see different qualities in people. Usually they see the worst in people because of the sayings they heard about the person. "People blame him for the mistakes of his generals, and they're just as bitter about his grammar, appearance, and family." p. 01.Wars can change peoples idea of a person and change the characteristics of themselves. Many people think differently. "God bless old U.S. Grant, 'they shrieked they laughed and cried, and nearly everybody though the war would be over in a matter of weeks." p. 165. Sometimes it takes a while for people around you to have trust in you, because of only one event that you did that was wrong. Then when you come back and do a good deed you get the people's trust back. "Everyone mistrusting Dave Burdon for the time when he got drunk, never giving him a chance until he save Jethro." p. 178. This is how different people can have different opinions and characteristics.

Many individuals also hold different points toward a cause or event that had happened. Many people held different viewpoints of slavery. Some wanted it, others thought that it should be legal. "What the South wants is the right to live as it sees freely without interference, but what about the people in living in the dumps." p. 10. When individuals want others to follow them, they do whatever it takes to make them follow them. "…and for every evil that you can fear in me in the name of slavery." p. 78. Other people just don't care for a cause. They just go with anything or try not to get involved with society. "Bill saying that neither side is right they are all corrupt in the same deed under a different name." p. 145. People can have different views on the ideas, and when they say their ideas to the world, people have different views on them.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Across Five Arpils

As many people can see, the human nature and character is unique and special. The novel Across Five Aprils shows how experiences, viewpoints, and opinions influence the human character. When character is affected by what experiences they run into, they change their whole character. Different people see different views in each other, and when they see the opposite of a person then what they really are, someone must have told them beforehand. Many individuals also have different viewpoints then others. One can enjoy an experience while the other person truly hates it. These human qualities are all different in each and every one of us. Human character determines what kind of person someone is and it shows what each one of us is as a person.

When I was in primary school, I was always picked on by the popular kids. I though that if I became friends with them, they would lay off and quit humiliating me in front of everyone. I was wrong though because the harder you tried to be in their crowd, the harder it was to be friends with them. They played games with you and made you feel less than a person. That is why I think that it is very unimportant to be accepted.

When people become popular, it is usually because they are accepted by a whole bunch of other students in their school. They all wear the latest clothing, which is rubbed in peoples faces who either cant afford it, or who dont fully like the style. In the end, if youre the same as them, having most of the same interests as the popular people, youre set and ready to go. If youre in a sport or do good in school, thats extra points in the popular world.

The thing that makes unpopular people out of favor is the way they act towards the popular students. They are more independent and have their own styles, not ever really caring what others think. Some people who arent very popular are so because they are unclean, crabby, or mentally impaired. They may not get out much and might not have an athletic bone in their body. People who are popular are usually fun to people, and theyre also interesting. Some students are insecure about their appearance, and may not talk much and are shy.

When I started out in school, I wanted to enjoy it. Being popular was fun, and you were invited to all kinds of parties and after school hangouts. I, however, wasnt popular and therefore wasnt having very much fun. I cared a lot in my first couple years about who I hung out with, but soon enough, after I failed to be accepted, I no longer cared. My opinion changed because I knew that it wasnt worth it, and I always considered myself lucky. My theory was, if you want to be happy I school, don't be popular.

Custom writing service can write essays on What makes popular students popular? What makes unpopular people unpopular? Is it important to be popular? Why or why not? Have your views on popularity changed as you've gotten older? In what ways and why?

In my opinion right now days, popularity (in school) is a social disease. You long to be them, and so therefore youre having an identity crisis. People who are popular arent all bad people, but from my experience, the more popular you are, the more stuck up and conceited you become. There were always one or two people who were really nice and treated people with respect. There were, however, more students who were mean than ones who were nice. Ive learned a lot from them, and I just thank all heaven that I was never one of them, conceited and hated by all outsiders.

For Forester, owning land was not at all what he expected. By buying his new piece of land, Forster automatically became this person that he should be. In this society, the man with land never went to heaven, because he felt heavy, because they owned slaves, and owning slaves is not looked good upon from God. Through figurative language, references to the bible, word choice; Forster conveys his tone of sin and regret towards his current situation.

Forster's attitude of sin and regret are present when the author mentions how he feels about owning land and being a newly freed man. Forster "feel(s) heavy" now that he has his own land, and his present situation is almost "sinful" because men with land do not ascend into Heaven. Forster clearly allows the reader to know how he feels about who he has become. Forster is not pleased with himself, and he thinks now, becoming a hypocrite, owning land and slaves, will not be accepted into Heaven. Forster had no idea of the "difficulties" and "horrors" associated with being a free man. Now that Forster was free, he is welcomed into the real world, and many responsibilities accompany that welcome. Forster went out and bought land to make money off of, and he comes across obstacles such as asceticism, and having to choose his God.

Forster's use of figurative language is used in a broad range of ways, from simple similes, to developing an even bigger, more complex analogies, all tying in with the negative theme of sin and regret. "A comparatively slim camel passing through the eye of as needle and being woven into a robe" is used to portrait the allusion of little things in this world, all working for God, but Forster feels he has "failed," and will, ultimately, go to Hell. Working to fulfill God's purpose, a camel is able to squeeze through the tiny eye of a needle, because it is for God. The author regrets ever not working for God, and committing the sins he did, such as purchasing the land .

Making several biblical references through the passage helps certain people to better understand, and to produce more in-depth comparisons, with support from the bible which helps to develop the more sinful theme. Forster decides to make comparisons to the "Jordan" River and to "bathe" in it. Being cleaned in the river means that individual is sinless, but owning the land, one must own slaves to keep the land working right. There is no way a landowner could honestly cleanse himself while ordering slaves around at home, it is almost like leading two different lives. "The Gospels" are used to let people know what to do and what not to do, and most people find following the Gospel "difficult ground" to live on. Landowners automatically defy the Gospel by having slaves, no where in the Gospel does it say to have slaves, so the landowners already are in sin.

Foster's tools in developing the negative attitude towards his situation were figurative language, word choice and going back to biblical connections. Foster's figurative language not only is used to describe a certain occurrence, is also compares two different things to each other, but still ties in the theme of sin and regret. Using the bible, Foster was able to support his statements well, and even helped those who are familiar with the bible to better understand the author's meaning.
